All 19 PTE Core question types in official order

Pearson currently lists 7 scored question types in Speaking and Writing, 5 in Reading, and 7 in Listening. The Personal Introduction is unscored; PTECore is a common no-space search variation of the official name PTE Core.

Seven PTE Core Speaking and Writing task types

The official order is Read Aloud (RA), Repeat Sentence (RS), Describe Image (DI), Respond to a Situation (RTS), Answer Short Question (ASQ), Summarize Written Text (SWT), and Write Email (WE).

Five PTE Core Reading task types

The official order is Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks (FIBRW), Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers, Reorder Paragraph (RO), Reading: Fill in the Blanks (FIBR), and Multiple Choice, Single Answer.

Seven PTE Core Listening task types

The official order is Summarize Spoken Text (SST), Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers, Fill in the Blanks (FIBL), Multiple Choice, Single Answer, Select Missing Word (SMW), Highlight Incorrect Words (HIW), and Write from Dictation (WFD).

PTE Core test order and timing

The test runs through Speaking and Writing, Reading, then Listening. Pearson currently gives ranges of 50–65, 27–37 and 22–37 minutes. Test versions balance the total length so that the complete test does not exceed two hours.
