PTE Core Test Day: ID Requirements and Rules | Lengqishui
Prepare for PTE Core test day: valid physical ID, 30-minute arrival, check-in, prohibited items, headset and microphone checks, breaks and computer-room rules.
PTE Core ID requirements on test day
Pearson currently lists a passport as accepted anywhere and preferred for PTE Core. A Canadian Permanent Resident Card is accepted in Canada only. The physical ID selected during booking must be valid and its name, date of birth, citizenship and gender must match the appointment.
Digital IDs, photos and photocopies are not accepted
The current identification policy requires a physical document and rejects digital IDs, digital copies, images and photocopies, including certified copies. Without an acceptable ID, a candidate may be refused entry and lose the test fee.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before PTE Core
Pearson’s test-centre rules require check-in at least 30 minutes before the appointment. Late candidates may not be allowed to test and may lose the fee. Follow any earlier arrival instruction in the confirmation.
Security checks and the computer test environment
Check-in includes ID verification and can include a photograph, digital signature and palm scan. Personal belongings go into secure storage, and the monitored computer room may contain other candidates speaking nearby.
What you cannot take into the PTE test room
Current centre rules prohibit phones, electronic devices, digital watches, books, notes, wallets, food, drinks and other listed items. Review Pearson’s comfort-aids and accommodations guidance for permitted exceptions.
PTE Core headset, microphone and QWERTY keyboard
The centre provides a computer, QWERTY keyboard, headset microphone and permitted writing material. Complete the equipment check, keep the headset on around speaking candidates and use a normal conversational volume.
Report equipment problems immediately
Raise your hand as soon as a headset, microphone, keyboard or computer problem appears so the Test Centre Administrator can investigate during the session. Do not wait until after leaving to report a visible issue.
PTE Core breaks and total test time
Pearson currently provides two hours for PTE Core and the handbook says there is no scheduled break. An unscheduled break may be requested, but the clock does not stop. Medical accommodations should be arranged before booking.
